Powder coating is a highly durable, decorative and long lasting finish applied to steel products of nearly every sort for the consumer and industry alike. It can come in virtually any color or finish, matt or smooth, is rust-free, scratch resistant and ecologically friendly.

Swing sets, patio furniture and garden equipment are just a few examples of products that are powder coated. Though it appears painted on, it's actually a dry finishing process. Electrostatically charged particles of pulverized pigment and resin are sprayed on to the surfaces of items that have been electrically grounded, thereby attracting the dry charged particles. Items are then placed in a curing oven where the powder coating melts and fuses to the surface. Not only is the process virtually pollution free, but there is also very little waste as the dry overspray can be recovered. Also, the industry does not have to invest in costly pollution-control equipment, making powder coating extremely economical.

Does the finish have a powdery look?
No, not unless you want one.

Can I specify the colour I want?
Our toolchests are manufactured on a production line were a minimum of a 20 foot container are produced. Due to this we standardize colours on the various models. However if the order quantity would be a minimum of a container load any colour can be supplied according to the customers request.

Are all powder coatings the same in performance specifications?
No. Like liquid paints, powder coatings have many characteristics that we study to ensure the coating system is suitable for the product we are manufacturing.

How long does powder coating last?
Thats a crystal ball question. All coatings will eventually fail over time. There are so many variables that, in terms of years, its hard to say. Manufacturers of powder coatings do extensive testing and have data sheets available with testing information.
